CYCLING FRIENDLY HOLIDAYS FOR ROAD BIKES AT ROBIN HOODS BAY

CYCLING HOLIDAYS AT THE NORTH YORKSHIRE COAST…

You have probably already conquered a challenge or two like a coast to coast or the The Cap of Formentor in Mallorca, but have you cycled in Yorkshire? The Tour de Yorkshire has put road cycling in Yorkshire on the map and if professional cyclists give the area high praise, claiming that the people and the scenery are “simply incredible”, it’s a cycling destination to be added to your bucket list.

You can book your holiday through a tour operator, who will plan the route and accommodation or you can do it yourself using Strava and Google Maps.  It usually takes as long as the 3 day holiday to plan, but it will save you money!  Alternatively, come stay with us, because we’ve done the work so you don’t have to!

The routes are:

  1. 26 miles - Whitby, Sandsend and Robin Hood’s Bay loop

A half day exploration of some quiet inland villages and of three of the most popular holiday resorts on the North Yorkshire Coast. Finish at the Victoria Hotel in Robin Hood’s Bay for a pint with spectacular views of the bay!

  1. 40 Miles - Coast and Forest Robin Hood’s Bay to Scarborough loop

Take the day and enjoy a pit stop at Scarbourough’s North Bay, where you can breathe in the salty air and watch the beach shenanigans from the Watermark Café on the front. Return via the quiet country roads through the Wykenham Forest and enjoy the shelter of the trees.

  1. 45 miles - Robin Hood’s Bay Coast to Danby Loop

Part of the 171 miles North York Moors Cycleway You’ll turn inland after taking in the magnificent Whitby Abbey and head into the heart of the North York Moors through a procession of undulating valleys.  Once you reach Danby visitor centre you will head back via The Yorkshire cycling Hub at Fryup and Grosmont the northern terminus of the North York Moors Steam Railway.

Where to eat:

We know at the end of a long day cycling you don’t want to have to prepare a meal. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants in Robin Hood’s Bay and Fylingthorpe to make sure you don’t have to cook.  Collect your pre-ordered pizza from Barnards in Fylingthorpe (01947 880322) or if you can’t leave the sofa (it has happened to me) Domino’s in Whitby deliver. The Fylingdales inn is just 5 minutes walk away.

Where to stay:

Of course we’d love you to stay with us at Sea Fern Cottage, but if were fully booked you can find alternative accommodation at North York Moors Cycling Friendly

www.seafern.co.uk is recognised by the North York Moors as a cycling friendly place to stay in Robin Hood's Bay! This means, we provide routes and GPX for cyclists to enjoy from #robinhoodsbay and we've got facilities for you to wash, repair and store your bikes.
