Some tour operators like to split this 170 mile route in Pately Bridge and Pocklington (60,60 and 50 miles). In our experience this makes Day 1 too much of a challenge, because firstly all the hills are in the first 60 miles and secondly if you've had to drive 3 hours to get to Morecambe then it is going to be a very long day.
