Picking your own pumpkins is a fun day out with kids and you get to buy direct and support local farmers.  These are a few great places to pick your own if you are holidaying in north Yorkshire this October half term…

  1. Beacon Farm - Whitby

Where to Find Them:   Sneaton, Whitby, North Yorkshire, YO22 5HS

Opening Times:  pumpkin picking from the 7th Open WED - SUN, 9am-4pm (every day during half term)

No entry fee, just pay for the pumpkins you pick prices range from £2.50 - £5. Nature trail and outdoor play area and plenty of delicious Dairy Ice Cream made right here. 


  1. Pumpkin Picking at Piglets Adventure Farm, York

Where to Find Them:  Towthorpe Grange, Towthorpe Moor Lane, York, YO32 9ST (JUST OFF THE A64)

Opening Times:  7th, 8th, 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd, 28th - 31st Oct.

Piglets Adventure Farm will be giving away a free pumpkin for every child at their Pumpkin Festival this year (with standard admission) and you get a tractor-trailer ride to the pumpkin patch!


  1. The Whole Hogg Farm Shop, Low Marishes

Where to Find Them:  Howe Bridge Farm, Low Marishes, Malton, YO17 6RQ (NEAR PICKERING)

Opening Times: 7th, 8th, 14th, 20th & 29th October

Find a huge selection of pumpkins, including giant pumpkins. Prices start at just £1 and there is no entry fee – just pay for your pumpkin. The farm can get quite boggy, so wellies are recommended!

After you have picked your pumpkin, you can enjoy a sweet treat in the tearoom.


  1. Pumpkin Picking at Castle Howard

Where to find them: Castle Howard Garden Centre, York YO60 7BY

Opening Times:  30th September - 31st October, open 10am – 5pm

The Castle Howard Garden Centre Pumpkin Patch is back for the third year running! Explore the patch and choose your perfect pumpkin.


  1. PUMPKIN FEST 2023 - Spilmans

Where to Find Them:  Church Farm, Sessay, YO7 3NB

Opening Times:  Open weekends from Sept 30 and then daily from 24-31 of October

Your ticket includes entry and the chance to watch their NEW 'Last Pumpkin' musical theatre show PLUS you get a £5 voucher on arrival to spend on your pumpkins.


  1. Pumpkin Patch & Halloween Trail, Scarborough

Where to find them: Humble Bee Farm Scarborough, YO11 3UJ

Opening times: Oct 22 - 29, 10am - 1pm

Humble Bee Farm is open to the public this October Half Term where you can pick your very own pumpkin, carve it inside and walk around the spooky Halloween Nature Trail!
